LIBRARY RULES AND REGULATIONS
A library is a collection of information sources,and services. It is organized for the use of Student and Staff members of Global Business School. The Library is for reading, studying, writing, and using library materials such as Books, Periodicals, CDs, DVDs, Reports etc. The regulations are intended to enable the best use and fairest distribution to be made of Global Business School library resources and facilities. We request your cooperation in maintaining an environment in which all library users can use and enjoy library resources, services, and facilities. They will be firmly but courteously enforced by library staff/security. Users must comply with these rules and regulations
REGISTRATION:
The staff and students of GBS can make use of the library.
USE OF READING MATERIALS:
READING MATERIALS:
a. Books
Students
Students may borrow up to 2 books for 15 days
Staff
b. JOURNALS/ MAGAZINES
Currents issues and the issue before the current issue of journals/magazines are to be used only in the Library . Old issues can be issued as mentioned below.
c. REFERENCE MATERIALS
Reference materials are to be used only in the Library
d. CD/AUDIO-VISUAL MATERIALS
All CD/ audio-visual materials are to be used in the Library. Users may use the systems, which are kept inside the library for the purpose.
e. OTHER LIBRARY MATERIALS
For the borrowing of other library materials, borrowers are to consult the respective Librarian at the service point.

CONDUCT IN THE LIBRARY:
Users are requested to enter their name in the Gate Register, while entering into the Library and moving out from the library, for any purpose of their visit.
No bags, umbrellas, parcels, personal copies, etc. except loose sheets may be brought into the Library. Adequate storage facility is provided at the entrance of the Library. However, the Library is not liable for the loss of items stored.
Library doesn’t accept responsibility for the loss of any personal property left in the libraries.
Users are not allowed to reserve seats in the library. In any case, property left on chairs and tables by readers to reserve places in their absence may be removed by the Library staff to make room for other readers.
Silence must be observed at all aimes in the library.
On leaving the Library, all users are required to produce for inspection all books and items taken out of the Library.
The Library staff has the right to request a user to leave the premise if the user violates the rules.
Newspapers will not be allowed to take outside the library.
No refreshments, eatables may be brought into the library.
Please switch off your cell phone while entering into the library. It causes Disturbance to the other patrons.
The readers are requested to leave the books/periodicals on the reading Table which he/she has taken for reference. The same will be replaced on the shelf by the library staff. This is to avoid the misplacement of the Materials.
The library committee has power to refuse admission to any one Infringing the rules and regulations of the library.

REGISTRATION:
The staff and students of GBS can make use of the library.
- Each student must provide his current academic year's official receipt/ fee receipt/ Identity Card to fill up the Library Registration Form to enroll their Library Membership. Student will be given One library Card for issuing the Library Materials.
- To become a member of the library, Staff member has to fill up the Library Membership Form and the staff member will be given library cards.
USE OF READING MATERIALS:
- Every person taking a book out of the library and every reader using a book within the library shall be responsible for its safe custody and return, damaged in any manner, and in the event of its being lost or damaged (including pencil or ink markings) he shall either replace the book or pay the compensation as may be fixed by the Librarian or the Director.
- A new book shall not, normally be taken out of the Library during the first week after it has been classified and cataloged.
- Every periodical publication shall be displayed till the receipt of the next number and shall not normally be taken out of the Library.
- Readers shall not write on, or damage, or turn down the leaves or make any mark on any book, manuscript or map belonging to the Library; nor shall they lay the paper on which they are writing on a book, manuscript or map etc. belonging to the Library.
- Any reader noticing a defect in, or damage to any book or manuscript in the Library should bring it to the notice of the Librarian or the Assistant Librarian on duty.
- No tracing, copying or mechanical reproduction of any book, map or manuscript shall be done without the express permission of the Librarian.
READING MATERIALS:
a. Books
Students
Students may borrow up to 2 books for 15 days
Staff
- Full Time faculty may borrow up to 5 books per subject, for full semester
- Administrative Staff may borrow 3 books for 30 days.
- Visiting Faculty may borrow 2 books for 30 days.
b. JOURNALS/ MAGAZINES

- Students can borrow against their library card for 2 days.
- Staff members may issue it for 4 days.

Reference materials are to be used only in the Library

- Library materials which have been borrowed may be renewed if they Have not been reserved by another user.
- The Librarian has the right to recall the renewed copy at any point of time, if it’s requested by some other user.
GENERAL LOAN RULES:
- Borrowers are to produce their library cards while borrowing library materials.
- No books or library materials may be brought out of the Library until the Loan has been recorded.Unauthorized removal of library materials is Regarded as a very serious offense. Library materials borrowed must be Returned on or before the due date.
FINES:
- If the material is not returned on or before the due date, the student borrower has to pay the fine of Rs. 5/- per day. The holidays would be considered for calculating the fine.
- The users have to inform in writing to the librarian for loss/ theft of the library cards. For theft/ loss of library cards Rs. 50/- will be charged.
- The borrower shall be responsible for any damage including pencil or ink markings or loss done to the Library documents borrowed by him. In case of loss/ damage of the library materials, the borrower has to replace the new copy of the recent edition of the same book else the user would be charged the current price of the book and the 25% of the book, which is the handling charge. If the issues library material is lost or stolen, the borrower may inform the librarian and has to give in writing for the same to deduct the fine.

- Only individuals registered with the library may borrow books.
- Please don’t lend your Library Cards. Library Staff will not be responsible for misuse of the Library Cards.
- Photocopying of the book and copying of the CD/DVD should not be done as it Violates the copyright law.
- The users of the library may suggest to the librarian any book or journal for being acquired by the library and the suggestions so made will Be considered by the Library Committee and management.
- Pulling a book from the shelf by holding the spine will damage its Binding. If the shelf is packed, push further with your fingers the two books adjacent to the one you need . It will be easy then for you to pick up the books you want without damaging its binding.
- The Librarian will give the No Due Certificate only after returning the Books and other borrowed materials from the library.
